03/01/08 - What promised to be a great game between the EBA’s top two teams did not disappoint. The game was tight from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

The Horizon enjoyed a seven-point lead at the half, but fell behind by a point after three quarters, 81-80. The game continued its nail-biting pace, tied with 7:00 to go. The Horizon pulled ahead on the back of Demone Maxwell’s 20 points, 10 that came in the 4^th quarter.

A 12-2 run for the Avengers gave them a 105-100 lead with 3:30 to go, but the Horizon answered with a 12-3 run of the own giving them a 112-108 lead with 23 seconds left in the game. Justin Moore hit a bucket to pull the Avengers within two points but Michah Davenport’s dunk and free throw gave the Horizon a five-point lead with seven seconds remaining on the game clock giving the Horizon their sixth win of the season 117-110 and sole possession of 1^st place.

Dave Jannuzzi led the Horizon with 22 points. The Avenger’s leading scorer was Tyree Harris with 26 points. Daryl Owens had 22 rebounds, 10 steals and 5 blocks for an outstanding defensive performance for the losers.
