Alexandria Avengers Defeat
Delaware Destroyers

Alexandria Avengers had their Season opener against the Delaware Destroyers at home.

Without hesitation, the Avengers starting lineup showed up and showed out, getting the team off to a great start and their first win.

The Avengers were down 10 with 48 stands in the 2nd quarter before a pair of late three pointers by sharp shooter Steve Miles to go into the half with a score of 41-45. Coach Manuel headed into the locker room with the team, noting that the game was theirs to win.

After a rough first half of shooting only 30% from the field, the second half was a different team. They began the half on a 10-0 run, scoring with many lay-ups and open jump shots.

Tyree Harris was named as leading scorer with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists; Brian Polk, 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists; Justin Moore, Starting Point Guard, put up 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Avengers looked great.

"Defense won this home opener for us and the Fans of Alexandria. We had to get the nervous jitters out from the first half and settle down and play Avengers basketball,” Coach Manuel added.
