The Hype, who finished in last place in 2011 with a 1-11 record, started their 2012 campaign with a win and never looked back. They marched through their season with a division-winning 9-1 record, took care of Washington Madness 119 – 108 in the semi’s, and put the icing on the cake by hoisting the EBA Championship trophy.
Nick Carter scored 21 of his game-high 34 points in the second half to bring the Hype back from a 10-point deficit. He was backed-up by Nick Leon who had 9 of his 21 points in the 4th quarter to assure victory for the Hype.
Metro All-Stars, playing without their recently Peru-bound All-Star forward Elyon Bush, had to depend on a strong inside game led by Calvin Brown, Jr. In the end, however, the outside shooting of the Hype prevailed. Terrance Carter had 23 points for the All-Stars, followed by Brown at 21.
