Delaware Destroyers proved again that they are the “Beast of the East” with a 114 – 97 victory over the Norfolk Tru Hope Trailblazers in the finals of the Eastern Basketball Alliance.

Delaware advanced to the finals with a 135 – 121 win over the New York Wizards. In the other semi-finals, Norfolk defeated the hometown Washington Madness 105 – 96.

Championship Series MVP, Sherman Brittingham, lead the Destroyers with 28 points that included a perfect 12 for 12 from the foul line.

The Trailblazers broke out first in the game and posted a 22 – 15 lead after one quarter. Tenacious defense gave the Destroyers a 39 – 18 run in the 2nd quarter which proved to be the difference in the game.

The Trailblazers, an EBA first-year entry, showed throughout the weekend’s play that they are a force to be reckoned with in the future. In the end, poor shooting from the foul line (20 for 37) confirmed their downfall.

Eric Ruffin’s 28 points lead the way for the Trailblazers and Jason Arrington’s (18) dogged floor play and clutch buckets kept the game close throughout.
